Waivers
All players must turn in the UPA event waiver before playing.
UPA members, if you have already submitted a UPA waiver this year, you are all set. If not, please submit your waiver the first day of league.
If you are under 18 years of age, your parent/guardian must also fill out the appropriate form for you to turn in the first day of league.
Rosters
The teams were made in an attempt to balance gender, throwing, experience, and attendance. Of course, these were mainly based on players’ registration information. We tried to accommodate pair requests wherever possible. Unreciprocated requests were given low priority. We still need captains for teams 2, 5, and 6. The major responsibility will be keeping your team informed via weekly e-mails, which is a pretty low time commitment. Please let me know if you are willing to captain. Check out the current rosters.
Schedule
Games start at 6:30 pm. With 6 teams, every team will play the other teams twice over the regular season. The last week, there will be playoffs. Check out the full schedule.
Fields
The league will play at Erie Community College’s North Campus. The address is 6205 Main St. Williamsville, NY. The current field setup is shown here.
Parking
The parking lot to use is off of Tech Drive past the softball fields. I would recommend staying away from the student and faculty parking. See the map for more information.
Spirit
As most of you know, Ultimate is founded on the concept of Spirit of the Game. Respect for your opponents, the rules, and the sport is paramount when playing Ultimate. The league organizers reserve the right to remove anyone from the league who does not exhibit fair play, integrity, and Spirit of the Game on the field.
Pickup Policy
Unfortunately, players not registered with the league are not allowed to play. This is due to the requirements of being a UPA sanctioned league.
Gender Ratio
With only 2-3 women per team, it is difficult to have a set gender ratio. Teams are encouraged to have at least one woman on the field whenever possible.
Point cap
All games are played to 15 with a mirror half at 8. If neither team reaches 15 points, the game is over at 8:30. If the game is tied at 8:30, play one more point.
Game times
Games start at 6:30 pm each week. Please start on time.
Time outs:
One per half and one floater per team.
Inclement Weather
If there is inclement weather during the day and games are cancelled, a notice will be put on the website and captains will be notified by email ASAP.
Lightning Policy
BUSL will use the flash-to-bang method (amount of seconds between when a flash of lightning is seen and a clap of thunder is heard). When a flash-to-bang count of 30 seconds is reached (this is roughly 5 miles), the fields must be cleared, regardless of points or time left in the game. Do not attempt to finish a point in progress. Players should seek shelter immediately and move away from open areas and high ground. If you can’t get to a safe shelter, try to avoid being the tallest object in an open field or on open water. Avoid other tall objects, metal objects, and water. Assume a crouch position with only the balls of your feet touching the ground, your arms wrapped around your knees, and your head lowered. Minimize contact with the ground. Do not lie flat.
Play can only resume 30 minutes after the last flash of lightning or sound of thunder.
This is not a discretionary decision in which players or captains can decide to continue play. Such behavior endangers not only individuals, but also the BUSL organization and its ability to have insurance.
