After pausing for the prior two seasons because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the plan is to resume for 2022 on Wednesday evenings at ECC’s northern campus in Williamsville. Games will run for 10-12 weeks starting in late May / early June and wrapping up in early /mid August. Additional details and the link to sign up will be posted as they are confirmed.

As with personal, professional, and educational life, the Coronavirus pandemic has impacted athletic activities. The play, postponement, or cancellation of the Buffalo Ultimate Summer League for this year will depend on a balance of factors.

USA Ultimate, our sanctioning body and facilitator of insurance coverage, has advised of the following: “We announced the cancellation or postponement of all USA Ultimate-sanctioned activity through May 10 based on earlier guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). And while no further date-specific recommendations have been made by the CDC since, advice was issued to parks and recreation administrators earlier this week encouraging organizers to postpone sporting events during times in which individuals are encouraged or required to practice social distancing. With the federal government having deferred decisions about how to best combat the spread of the Coronavirus to individual states, and with no specific national recommendations in place that extend beyond May 10, we are not canceling or postponing any additional events at this time. With separate states imposing vastly different stay-at-home orders ranging from mid-June to none at all, and varying health and safety recommendations, we are instead going to work in conjunction with local event organizers to make decisions that are compliant with state and local ordinances and guidelines and facility policies. We will only sanction activity (tournaments, tryouts, practices, clinics, etc.) after May 10 with express, written assurance from local organizers that any and all laws or guidelines intended to keep communities safe from the exposure to, or spread of, the Coronavirus will be adhered to without exception and that permission has been granted from all relevant, local authorities, if applicable. Failure to adhere to any part of a written agreement will affect future sanctioning decisions.“

Registration for the summer of 2019 is open!

Games will be on Wednesday evenings starting 6:30 PM at the Williamsville ECC field space beginning May 29th through August 14th.

Please provide your information through the LeagueApps BUSL site.  The portal is open for individuals to register.  The summer season is open to registrants under the age of eighteen.  Please note the following (and reach out to me if you cannot navigate your way through things):

• I have not linked a payment portal for credit and debit cards, but LeagueApps will take users through initial steps to pay online – Please ignore those prompts on the ‘Payment’ tab of the registration sequence.  Even though you cannot proceed to the ‘Confirmation’ tab, you are registered. You will appear as owing the fee until I receive a check, cash, or electronic payment directly from you and then update the site myself.  The current cost of $40. I do accept PayPal and Venmo, so please reach out to me to request contact details if necessary. Payment of the league fee does not in part or in full represent USA Ultimate membership at the youth, collegiate or open player level.
• Even though the registration site has its own default ‘waiver’ I will need a completed USA Ultimate waiver from everyone.  If you are an active USA Ultimate member with an up to date waiver, then I will accept documentation of that status.  However the easiest thing is to simply provide me with a freshly signed one for the summer league.
• Under 18 Info: Players who are under the age of eighteen at the start of the season must provide a medical authorization form completed by a parent or guardian.  The ability to open play up to minors depends on volunteer chaperones.  If you have already completed background screening, I will request confirmation from you.  For further information refer to the USA Ultimate guidelines for chaperones.
• Players register individually and will be assigned to teams in an effort to balance gender ratios, expected attendance and skill levels.  I have added a pairing request text option for spouses, siblings, newbies to be linked to another person. This is not intended to be a mechanism to shape entire teams. Remember that everyone will be at the same general location at the same time … plus expanding one’s social circle is a valuable exercise.

The aim of the Buffalo Ultimate Summer League is to provide a fun, inclusive, spirit-of-the-game focused environment.  While scores and standings are kept, experienced players are strongly encouraged to share their skills and knowledge of the game with new or beginning players to grow the overall interest and love of the game.

Apologies for the delay in getting the message out with the information for this upcoming summer season of ultimate in Buffalo.  Online registration is now open!  As with the last several years we will play at the ECC Williamsville Campus fields on Wednesday evenings.  The first session is scheduled for June 4th.

NOTE: Presently the registration site is not set up to receive payments for the 2014 season via credit or debit cards.  Please bring a check (preferred) or cash to the first week with your waiver.

Players register individually.  Then the league assigns registrants to teams based on information that they have provided in an effort to balance the overall skill level of the teams, gender ratios and anticipated turnout.

Online registration for the 2013 Buffalo Ultimte Summer League is now open.  Games will once again be located at the ECC Williamsville Campus fields on Wednesday evening.  Playes register individually.  Then the league assigns teams based on information provided in an effort to evenly distribute based on several factors including skill level, gender and expected participation.  Our first session is presently scheduled for the first Wednesday after the Memorial Day weekend on May 29th.
